Ch Tivin Spirit in the Sky

(Ch Majessa Skyward x Ch Majessa Eternal Flame) Date of birth: May 22, 1998 Dianna is the second champion daughter for Haeley and finished her conformation title at 14 months of age. She obtained 13 points including both majors as a puppy. We tried a stint with her in agility, but she preferred making her own courses rather than following the official course, so we never managed a performance title. She is extremely attached to David, and is enjoying life applauding the achievements of her children and grandchildren. Genetic testing : PennHIP 80%, SA normal, vWD DNA normal, thyroid normal, CERF normal (punctate cataract - breeders option). Health issues: Trichoepithelioma - skin mass removed in November, 2006. Removal of a mass on the left hind leg. Biopsy results - benign , surgical margins clear, surgery was curative. November 3, 2007 - episode of gastric dilatation and volvulus. Surgery performed by Dr. Scruggs within 45 minutes, no damage to stomach, spleen, or gastrointestinal tract. Stomach was rotated back into position and pexied or "tacked" into place to prevent further episodes of torsion. Dianna has recovered well with no complications and is back to her regular bossy self. September, 2008 - developed glaucoma in her left eye secondary to a lens luxation of unknown origin. Currently under control with eye drops. October 16, 2008 - enucleation of her left eye due to progression of the glaucoma. Recovered well from surgery and back to loving everyone up.

*2the same sire (not a Tivin dog) produced all three conditions - he also produced SA and a secondary Addison's case when bred to Kaylen La Marka Half Time. The first bloat case was Ch Tivin Angel in D'skies at Lauris, who died from complications two days after corrective surgery for the bloat. The second bloat case was with a different sire. We are currently participating in a study on the genetic basis of PDA in standard poodles by providing DNA samples from the sire and dam of the PDA puppy.
