Puppies Seven gorgeous puppies were born on September 21st. From a line breeding of Caitlyn, our white bitch who goes back to Unique and Prestige, and our gorgeous black boy Micah, out of the famous Ale Kai line. Both parents have been extensively health tested, the results of which can be seen on the OFA website or their individual pages here. We have 4 white boys and 3 black girls. All the puppies have gone on to their new homes. If you are interested in a puppy, please email or call us at (860) 739-2161 and we would be happy to refer you to other reputable breeders. click on pictures to enlarge

So it was a busy week for the babies. After their first visit, etc. they had to start getting the hang of eating solid food. Momma Caitlyn is not all that interested in feeding her babies any more - especially since those sharp little teeth are emerging! All seven will eat solid food, but Purple is trying to hold out for nursing time with mom. She will stand with the other puppies at the food bowl and look over at her mom whining that she wants milk! Caitlyn has very little sympathy for all that. Personalities are starting to develop - of the girls, Butterfly is most definitely the trouble maker, with Purple the most laid back of the three, and Sunflower somewhere in-between. Purple is a sweet little cuddle bug, and she rarely likes to sleep alone, always curled up with one of her brothers or sisters. Butterfly is the most independent of the girls, always the first to explore new sounds and textures. Sunflower just seems to go with the flow of things. Of the boys, Red is by far the bold adventurer, checking out every new sight and sound with enthusiasm and fearlessness. Blue and Sailor are close behind, with Chili a little more cautious following up the rear. Chili prefers to see what happens to everyone else before deciding if a new adventure is worth his time or if he would prefer to just hang out where he is. Of the boys, Chili is the quietest, a thinking boy who is methodical in his decisions to play or not to play. Blue and Sailor seem like twins they are so alike (a coincidence that they both ended up with blue colored collars!). They both like to play hard and sleep hard, and they will love you forever if you pay attention to them. All the puppies are sweet, cuddly, and fun. Stay tuned for next week's update! Five and a half weeks old:
First time outside - the puppies had an awesome time exploring and checking out the great outdoors this morning before the October snowstorm hit! It was chilly and overcast, so they weren't outside for long, but they loved checking out the grass and leaves, sticks and logs and I think we got some great shots. The puppies are nearly weaned from momma Caitlyn now, eating very well with solid food including canned, raw, and kibble. Their personalities are most definitely developing and everyone is very sweet. Some are bolder than others, but all of them appear to be outgoing and friendly and absolutely love people attention. Temperament testing will take place at 6 weeks which will give me a better idea of everyone's overall temperament and help decide on placement. Enjoy!
Six and a half weeks old:
Still chilly outside but the puppies adore the outside as you can see. Running and jumping in the leaves, grabbing sticks to chew and drag, playing tug-of-war with a fox tail toy, checking out the plastic tractor and trailer on the yard. These babies have a wonderful time out in the sun, stretching their little legs, bouncing around and exploring the great outdoors. Temperament testing was yesterday and decisions are being made about who is going where. Purple will be renamed Saphira (pronounced Suh-fear-uh), Sunflower will be renamed Gami, Butterfly will be renamed Amanda Mae (Mandy for short) by their new families. The girls all have their names, boys not yet but will let you know when they have theirs. Will post temperament testing results soon! Seven weeks old:
What a gorgeous day today! The puppies turned seven weeks old and they got to come into work and spend all day outside in the fenced in yard. Playing king (or queen) of the rock, chewing up sticks, jumping in leaves and exploring along the fence line, everyone had a wonderful time. Purple decided she like being above everyone and when she was Queen of the Rock woe unto any puppy who tried to join her there! She defended her spot like a lion, despite being the smallest of the puppies - she is living up to her mother's small but feisty package! Sailor rarely stood still, actively checking out every stick and rock in the yard. Blue was busy playing with everyone and Red kept busy too. Butterfly loved the leaves and the rocks and she and Chili played "tag" and tug-of-war with various toys. Chili's new name will be Bentley. Sunflower was the photogenic puppy of the day, seemingly pausing at just the right time for that perfect shot - which is why she is in so many of them! I think my favorite picture is the one of the three girls going down the steps - it looks like one puppy in three different poses as she goes down the stairs, rather than Purple, Butterfly, and Sunflower each on a different step on their way down the stairs! Enjoy everyone! Seven and a half weeks old:
Freshly groomed and ready to play, the puppies had a great Veteran's Day! Saphira (purple collar) absolutely loves to play Queen of the Rock, defending her right to "own" the top of the rock. A tough little cookie that loves to cuddle she is a huge personality in a little package. On the quieter side is Gami (sunflower collar) a sweet girl with a fun-loving personality who also tends to be the "peacemaker" in the group, trying to break up the inevitable tiffs between siblings. Most of these tiffs are created by either Mandy (butterfly collar) or her cream brother Red (no name yet) both of whom love to start trouble. The peacemaker of the boys is Blue (no name yet) who tends to avoid trouble but loves to cuddle up with the twins or watch TV. Bentley (chili pepper collar) hangs out in the middle - sometimes looking for trouble, other times not quite sure why trouble has found him! Bentley is a big boy with an even bigger heart and soulful eyes just begging for attention. Sailor (no name yet) is a pretty boy with a devilish personality to match his sister Mandy. Both of them are good at getting into trouble together and it's nearly impossible to get a picture of either of them standing still (because they rarely do!). At seven and a half weeks, 4 of them are going home next week so this is the last set of pictures with all of them....
